Interior design and art have been lifetime passions for me. As a child, I would rearrange the furniture in our home so often that my kid brother would avoid me when I called his name; he knew I wanted him to help me move another heavy piece of furniture. As a teenager, I would walk under-construction houses envisioning the spaces being created. I studied art, loved playing with color through various mediums such as paint, pottery, and weaving. Black and white photography became a hobby. You know, the real photography using film. I built a darkroom in the basement of my first home, spending hours processing film and manipulating the images in the dark. I grew up helping my dad fix things around the house, so building things comes intuitively to me. I learned about trees and gardening from my Dad and Grandfather, so my love of creating spaces spills out into the garden. My grandparents lived in a home built in the 1930’s. That is where I came to appreciate the beauty and charm of old homes. So really, my entire childhood was grooming me for this creative, sometimes frustrating, but always inspiring career in design.
